Wavlink AC1200 Setup – How to Complete it Using WPS Button

AC1200 dual band WiFi extender by Wavlink is a perfect device for both home and office use. Today we’ll be going to share how to install, set up, and run this extender. Wavlink ac1200 setup is similar to the setup process of other Wavlink extenders. First, inside the box, you will find the extender itself and an Ethernet cable. Keep in mind, the WPS settings require a place where WiFi signal interference is small. There are two ways for the Wavlink ac1200 setup.  One with a cell phone. Second, using the router. We’ll explain both.

Setup Using Router

AC1200 setup using the router is very simple and requires these steps:

  • You just plug in the extender to an outlet and then wait about 45 seconds for it to start up.
  • Once the LED indicator is flashing red on the extender, hit the WPS button on your home router for about five seconds.
  • Note that the time may differ on how long you have to hold it, depending on the router that you have.
  • After about five seconds on this router, the WiFi signal  LED changes colors and starts to flash.
  • It indicates that it’s trying to make a connection with the new device.
  • Now, press the WPS button on the extender for about six seconds until you see a blinking blue light.
  • Before it turns blue, it may be blinking red.
  • It shows that the extender is communicating with the router.
  • Note that the connection process usually takes about 60 seconds.
  • Once the blinking red light turns to a solid blue you’ll know the Wavlink ac1200 Setup is successful.

Now you can take benefit of the extended WiFi.

  • So, make sure that you write that down.
  • Next, choose Repeater mode on your screen.
  • Find your host’s WiFi signal.
  • Then add the password for your router’s network.
  • Click Connect, and then wait for the progress bar to show.
  • Wait about 30 to 60 seconds to finish the ongoing process.
  • The Led light will then transfer back to a solid blue, indicating that you have a clean and clear WiFi signal.
  • Now that you’re connected, you can take the extender and plug it into a room where you want to increase the WiFi signal.
  • Once you plug it in, just wait about one to two minutes for it to connect. You’ll know it’s connected once the light again turns to a solid.

Note: If you do forget the password, press the reset button on the bottom of the extender. However, you’ll have to start the whole setup process again after the reset.

Learn About The Lights

There are five different lights on the Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender. The first light indicates the status of the power, while the rest of the lights indicate the WiFi connection strength.

The first light will be green when you turn on your Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender. If this light is flashing green, it means that there is no problem with your power supply. The second light is blue and indicates that your Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender has connected to a router and can send or receive data through it.

When this light is off, it means that your Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender cannot connect to any router at all. The third light is orange and shows that your Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender is connected to another device through an Ethernet cable.

The fourth light is red and indicates that something went wrong with your network configuration or setup process for some reason. If this happens, try turning off your Wavlink AC1200 WiFi extender and then turning it back on again.

The color of the signal LED will tell you how strong the signal you have. A solid blue means you have the best connection. Yellow means you have a good connection. Red means that you’re too far away and you’ll need to move the extender closer to your home router.
